Born on March 21, 1801, in Vienna, Austria; died on January 12, 1855; daughter of Ferdinand III, grand duke of Tuscany (r. 1790–1802 and 1814–1824) and Louisa Amelia (1773–1802); sister of Leopold II, grand duke of Tuscany (r. 1824–1859); married Charles Albert (1798–1849), prince of Carignano and king of Sardinia (r. 1831–1849); children: Victor Emmanuel II, king of Italy (r. 1849–1878, who married Marie Adelaide of Austria ); Ferdinand (who married Elizabeth of Saxony ).
