Plain Dirty ★★ Briar Patch; Killing Edgar 2004 (R)
Abused wife Inez (Swain) has smitten local hermit Flowers (Verveen) help kill her husband (Thomas) then runs of with a rich lawyer (Urbaniak). Well, Flowers is none too pleased with that development, and sets out to vent his displeasure. Allusions to Shakespeare's MacBeth somehow work for this literate Southern Gothic tale, and the cinematography makes great use of the Virginia setting. 103m/C VHS, DVD . Dominique Swain, Henry Thomas, Arie Verveen, James Urbaniak, Karen Allen, Debra Monk, Blake Lindsley; D: Zev Berman; W: Christian Carion; C: Scott Kevan; M: Nathan Barr. VIDEO
