Gracis, Ettore
Gracis, Ettore, Italian conductor; b. La Spezia, Sept. 24, 1915; d. Treviso, April 12, 1992. He studied violin at the Parma Cons, and piano and composition at the Venice Cons., and also took courses in composition with Malipiero and Guarnieri at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. He made his conducting debut in 1942; from that time, appeared with many opera houses of Italy. He also conducted sym. concerts. He was active in bringing out contemporary scores; conducted a number of works by Malipiero and other leading Italian composers.
