Richafort, Jean
Richafort, Jean , eminent Flemish composer; b. probably in Hainaut, c. 1480; d. probably in Bruges, c. 1547. He may have been a pupil of Josquin Des Prez, He was maître de chapelle at St. Rombaud in Mechelen (1507–9), and later was active at the French royal chapel. He excelled as a composer of motets. Among his extant works are 2 masses, a Requiem Mass, 12 Magnificats, many motets, and a number of chansons.
