Szumowska, Antoinette
Szumowska, Antoinette, Polish-American pianist and teacher; b. Lublin, Feb. 22, 1868; d. Rumson, N.J., Aug. 18, 1938. She studied at the Warsaw Cons, with Michalowski, and later took lessons with Paderewski in Paris (1890-95). In 1895 she emigrated to the U.S., settling in Boston, where she taught at the New England Cons, of Music. In 1896 she married Josef Adamowski , and with him and his brother Timothée, a violinist, formed the Adamowski Trio, which presented numerous concerts in New England.
