TOURISTS IN SPACE?
Technological advances have made space travel safer. So safe, in fact, that the Russian space program has allowed one civilian, U.S. businessman Dennis Tito, to travel into space with its cosmonauts. Tito paid approximately $20 million in 2001 for his chance to get a better look at the stars. Internet entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth of South Africa is scheduled to be the second civilian in space.
