monopteron
monopteron or monopteros. Circular colonnade supporting a roof, but without walls. Soane called a monopteral building one without walls but with columns, but did not confine it to circular buildings, as he used the term to describe part of his own mausoleum (on a square plan) in the burial-ground of St Giles-in-the-Fields, Old St Pancras, London (1816).
