Johann Ludwig Krapf
Johann Ludwig Krapf
1810-1881
German explorer who was the first European to discover Mount Kenya. His explorations, along with those of Johann Rebmann, proved important in opening East Africa to exploration, especially from the Indian Ocean. Krapf worked with Rebmann in several of his more productive expeditions, including those to the volcanoes of eastern Africa.
