Galiana
Galiana
Moorish princess. Flourished at the time of Moorish Spain; daughter of Gadalfe, king of Toledo.
From 1031 to 1492, Moorish Spain was divided into numerous kingdoms, known as "Taifas." The most important were Cordova, Seville, Granada, Jaen, Murcia, Valencia, Saragosa (Zaragoza), and Toledo. Galiana's father, Gadalfe, the king of Toledo, built a palace for his daughter on the banks of the Tagus River. It was so splendid that "palace of Galiana" became a proverb in Spain.
