City of Women
City of Women ★★ La Citte delle Donne 1981 (R)
Visually stunning, but otherwise thin fantasy/drama about a man smothered with women. A journalist wanders through a feminist theme park replete with a roller rink and screening room. Some worthwhile adventures are mixed in with rather dull stretches. Not among the best from either Mastroianni, who is under utilized, or Fellini, who here seems incapable of separating good ideas from bad. Plenty of buxom babes, but otherwise undistinguished. In Italian with English subtitles. 140m/C VHS, DVD . IT Marcello Mastroianni, Ettore Manni, Anna Prucnal, Bernice Stegers; D: Federico Fellini; W: Federico Fellini; C: Giuseppe Rotunno; M: Luis Bacalov.
