Pastrana, Pedro de
Pastrana, Pedro de, Spanish compoer; b. c. 1480; d. after 1559. He was a chaplain and singer at the chapel of Ferdinand the Catholic in Aragon in 1500. From 1527 to 1541 he was chaplain to Charles V. He also was abbot of the Cistercian monastery of S. Bernardo near Valencia (from 1530) and maestro de capilla to the Duke and Duchess of Calabria in Valencia. In 1547 he was made maestro de capilla to Prince Philip and in 1548 royal chaplain to Charles V, making his residence in Vallado-lid. He composed a Mass, 3 Magnificats, motets, Psalms, and sacred and secular villancicos.
