Runswick, Daryl (b Leicester, 1946). Eng. composer. Jazz player 1968–82 (bass guitar for Frank Sinatra and pianist for Cleo Laine). Db. player in London Sinfonietta 1970–82. Also produced King's Singers recordings and sang in Electric Phoenix. Works incl. Taking the Air, rock opera (1989); I Sing the Body Electric, vv., tape (1984); Lady Lazarus, amp. female v. (1985); Patents Pending, 6 solo vv. (1988); Needs Must When the Devil Drives, vv., elec. (1990); Main-Lineing, cl. qt. (1991). Re-orchestrated Aida for ens. of 24 players for WNO's The Drama of Aida (Mold, 1983)
