Uytenbogaart, Roelof Sarel (1933– ). South-African architect. His early works (Welkom Church, Orange Free State (1964), and Bonwit Clothing Factory, Cape Town (1967)) were influenced by Kahn, and during the 1970s (Werdmuller Centre, Claremont, Cape Town (1973), and University of Cape Town Sports Centre (1977)) looked to Le Corbusier for precedents. His own house at Kommetjie, Cape (1992), featured brick and wide overhanging eaves, handled with great élan. He published (with others) A Comparative Analysis of Urbanism in Cape Town (1977), and several articles on aspects of South-African urbanization.
