Dad's Army
Dad's Army a name for the Second World War Home Guard, from the title of the popular television series, written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft and first appearing in 1968, featuring the Home Guard of ‘Walmington-on-Sea’, led by the pompous bank manager Captain Mainwaring and his upper-class subordinate Sergeant Wilson, and featuring a range of men from the elderly butcher Corporal Jones to the young and naive Private Pike.
