Uttara-Mīmāṃsā
Uttara-Mīmāṃsā (Skt., ‘latter discussion/revered thought’). One of the six philosophical systems (darśana) of early Hinduism. Generally related to Vedānta, it is linked to Bādarāyaṇa and the Vedānta- or Brahma-Sūtra. Where Jaimini's Pūrva-Mīmāṃsā deals with karmakāṇḍa, or the duties required by the Veda, Uttara-Mīmāṃsā explores the religious and philosophical speculations of the Upaniṣads. The Vedānta Sūtra then becomes the major text on which subsequent commentaries are made.
