Richard Tapia
Richard Tapia
1946-
American mathematician who received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1967. In 1990 he was named one of the 20 most influential leaders in minority mathematics education by the National Research Council. His research interests have focused on improving interior point methods for linear programming and designing quadratic methods for nonlinear programming. He is involved in outreach programs aimed at encouraging minority students in science, engineering, and mathematics.
